Želјko R. Đurišić je rođen 12. februara 1972. godine u selu Babino, Berane, Crna Gora. Osnovnu školu je završio u rodnom selu, a srednju elektrotehničku školu u Beranama. Studije elektrotehnike je započeo na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu u Podgorici, a od druge godine nastavio na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu u Beogradu, na smeru Elektroenergetski sistemi (EES). Diplomski rad pod naslovom „Analiza uslova za prebacivanje visokonaponskih asinhronih motrora sa jednog na drugi sistem sabirnica“odbranio je 1999. godine (mentor dr Milenko Đurić, red. profesor). Magistarski rad pod naslovom “Razvoj algoritama za digitalne frekvencijske releje u uslovima velikih izobličenja ulaznih signala” odbranio je 2006. godine (mentor dr Milenko Đurić, red. profesor). Doktorsku disertaciju pod naslovom ,,Modelovanje i analiza uticaja prostornog i vremenskog profila snage vetra u projektovanju i eksploataciji vetroelektrana u elektroenergetskom sistemu“ odbranio je 07. 06. 2013. godine (mentor dr Jovan Mikulović, red. profesor) na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu u Beogradu.
U toku oktobra 2008. boravio je na RISO institutu (Danish Technical University), gde je završio kurs za projektovanje vetroelektrana korišćenjem Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program (WAsP).
Nakon odsluženja vojnog roka(1999/2000) zaposlio se na Elektrotehnički fakultet u Beogradu, gde je od 2001. do 2007. godine radio kao asistent pripravnik pri Katedri za EES. U zvanje asistent izabran je 2007, u zvanje docent 2013, a zvanje vanredni profesor 2018. godine. U aktuelno zvanje, redovni profesor, izabaran je 2023. godine.
Na osnovnim studijama na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu u Beogradu predaje predmete: Mehanika, Elementi elektroenergetskih sistema, Praktikum iz elemenata elektroenergetskih sistema, Elektrane, Razvodna postrojenja i Obnovlјivi izvori energije. Angažovan je na master studijama na predmetima: Digitalne relejne zaštite, Integracija obnovlјivih izvora u elektroenergetskim sistemima i Softver za obnovlјive izbvore energije. Na doktorskim studijama predaje predmete Vetroenergetika i solarna energetika,Integracija obnovlјivih izvora u distributivni sistemi Uzemlјivački sistemi. Od 2009. godine radi kao gostojući profesorna Elektrotehničkom fakuletu Univerziteta u Istočnom Sarajevu, gde na master studijama predaje predmete Kvaliteta električne energije,Iskorišćenje energije vjetrai Integracija OIE u EE mreže.
Oblasti naučnoistraživačkog rada kojima se do sada bavio su: obnovlјivi izvori energije, digitalne relejne zaštite, električne mašine, kvalitet električne energije i plazma tehnologije tankih prevlaka. Koautor je četiri udžbenika, tri monografije međunarodnog značaja i jednog poglavlјa u knjizi međunarodnog značaja. Autor/koautor je preko 250 naučnih/stručnih radova, od kojih je 34 publikovano u međunarodnim časopisima sa SCI liste.
Bio je mentor pri izradi 6 doktorskih disertacija i oko 300 diplomskih i master radova na Elektrotehničkim fakultetima u Beogradu i Istočnom Sarajevu.
Dobitnik je godišnje nagrade Privredne komore Beograda za najbolјu doktorsku disertaciju na Univerzitetu u Beogradu za 2013. godinu. Osvojio je jednu od četiri ravnopravne nagrade za najbolјi poster rad na vodećoj međunarodnoj konferenciji o energiji vetra- European Wind Energy Conference- EWEC 2009, Marseille, France, 2009. Autor je rada ,,Karakteristike vetra u južnom Banatu i uslovi integracije vetroelektrana u EES Srbije“, koji je proglašen za najzapaženiji referat u okviru studijskog komiteta C1 – Ekonomija i razvoj EES na 30. Savetovanju CIGRE Srbija, 2011. Bio je učesnik na projektu: ,,Idejno rešenje potencijalnih energetskih modela ekološkog naselјa Zagora u Crnoj Gori”, koji je dobio međunarodnu nagradu Energy Globe Award Serbia 2013
Recenzent je međunarodnih časopisa: Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, Applied Energy), Renewable Energy, IET Renewable Power Generation, International Journal of Energy Research i Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, kao i domaćih časopisa: Electronics, Tehnika i Energija. Recenzent je pet univerzitetskih udžbenika. Recenzirao je studije iz oblasti energije vetra za potrebe Elektroprivrede Srbije. Bio je konsultant Elektroprivrede Republike Srpske za istraživanje resursa energije vetra i razvoj projekata vetroelektrana. Bio je konsultant Svetske banke za projekte vetroelektrana i solarnih elektrana.
Učestvovao je u realizaciji većeg broja projekata i rukovodio izradom više studija iz oblasti vetroenergetike. Honorarno je angažovan od nekoliko privatnih firmi kao konsultant za istraživanje potencijala energije vetra i projektovanje vetroelektrana i fotonaponskih elektrana u: Srbiji, Crnoj Gori, Bosni i Hercegovini i Makedoniji. Poseduje licence za rad u profesionalnim softverima za projektovanje vetroelektrana. Autor je elaborata Analiza vetroenergetskog potencijala cilјnog regiona Leskova, na osnovu kojeg je izgrađena prva vetroelektrana u Srbiji. Autor je preko 20 idejnih rešenja vetroelektrana koje se razvijaju u regionu i svetu od kojih je oko 300 MW već izgrađeno i priklјučeno na EES.
Član je borda editora međunarodnog naučnog časopisa Wind. Član je uređivačkog Odbora domaćeg stručnog časopisa Enerija. Predsednik je studijskog Komiteta C4 u okviru CIRED Crne Gore, Član je studijekog Komiteta C4 u okviru CIGRE Srbija i komiteta C2 u okviru CIRED Srbija. Član je programskog odbora međunarednih konferencija INDEL i INFOTEH. Član je nučnog-programskog odbora domaće konferencije Energetika.
Bio je član Saveta Elektrotehničkog fakulteta u Beogradu u periodu 2012-2018. Bio je predsednik Komisije za unapređenje kvaliteta na Elektroetehničkom fakultetu u periodu 2016-2018. Trenutno obavlјa dužnost šefa Odseka za energetiku na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu u Beogradu. Član je Upravnog odbora Saveza energetičara.
